Dancing

Here are some photos of my night out dancing!
I've never had dancing lessons before, I have always felt a tad nervous attempting to try and join in at other London 40/50s events i have been to. For fear of being ridiculed for not knowing what on earth i was doing. I do love to dance but i'm not very good at being confined to a particular routine. I've looked into Swing and Lindy-hop lessons in London. They are affordable but i don t have a job and i'm in my 3rd year of university, so I have very little time and absolutely no money. I went to see this jump jive band play at a venue im my home town of Southend in Essex, when i was home for the holidays and there were free jive lessons! I was thrilled to get to learn some basic moves, so I dragged my boy to the dance floor it took some persuading but as soon as he had a few drinks down him he was loving it!

i was also having a rather brilliant hair day...

Boxing Day Celebrations

For the past 3 years I have always frequented the railway pub in Southend-On-Sea, for the northern soul/Motown night on Boxing day. Put on by some of the boys from the Horrors and it's always a brilliant turn out and all round good night out,
here's just a few of the best pics taken.

Mad Men Silkstone Barbie's

these are utterly amazing i want the set so bad!

Attempted to finger wave

I bought a pack of wave clips from Ebay to attempt to finger wave my hair, thought I would begin with the fringe/bangs more of a practice run.
I pin curled the rest of the hair and put in a scarf as it takes at least 24hours for pin curls to dry with my hair as it's so thick!

this was my inspiration

this is how i set it

A here is the result to be honest i was not very pleased with it but i suppose i can expect miracles with a first attempt

I know its nothing the like inspiration picture, but i'm sure i'll get there eventually!
Any tips?

Its Snowing in Essex!

having snow in a sea side town is always kinda weird seeing the beach covered in snow looks very odd but i've been thoroughly enjoying 'walking in a winter wonderland'
Fully equipped with some very practical snow boots.
I don't care how un-glamorous they are, I haven't slipped once!

Blue Dress

Im going through a bit of a mad men early 60's phase at the moment. I am a bit in love with Betty, so i found this gorgeous fabric in Dalston market for 2 pounds a meter!
and made this, quite simple dress but i'm rather proud of it

Here is the photograph that inspired me, if only i were that thin!
